The Fire Dragon Comes on the Scene,
by J. W. Cassandra

My poem The Fire Dragon Comes on the Scene is the second poem of my cycle entitled "The Firestorm of Creation, in my volume I, entitled "Eternity Awaken into Self-Consciousness". The Fire Dragon, as a creative power, appears in a raging flame on the wild night of creation. Its flood of flames is alarming: its metaphor, the vole and the rabbit, also represent this. There is no challenger yet, but the modifier "yet" suggests that it will be at a later stage of creation. The Fire Dragon's blood-curdling roar, paw slapping, scorching flame, raging fire dominate everything. It destroys heaven and earth – namely, at this stage of creation, it appears as a cosmic destructive power. This poem of the cycle also paints with vivid images what always precedes the moment of creation before the new epoch: the creative and destructive power first destroys everything that does not fit into the new epoch, to create afterwards, the new.
On the wild night of Creation
A furious firestorm bursts out,
With its flood, it alarms voles
and hares:
He has no
challenger yet.
The spark flashes in the sky,
the mortal fear,
On the furious Fire Dragon's sky
infinite,
Destructive force rules
everything:
Its
blood-curdling roar chases clouds.
Dragon's claw, dragon's tail, and
paw strike
Rules with furious fire everything:
Their flame
scorches heaven and earth;
In its wake glowing char, burning
cinder:
The dragon flame destroys heaven
and earth –
Firestorm
on the wild night of Creation...
