Where Sea and Sky Meet,
by J. W. Cassandra

My poem "Where Sea and Sky Meet" is the eighth poem in the cycle Book of Stars of my first volume, Eternity Awakened to Self-Consciousness. The poem paints a cosmic picture of the point where the sea and the sky merge into each other. But this merging means a series of cataclysms: lightning strikes into the water, its light reveals the archs of the stars. The starlight is almost fiery, torn apart by the hurricane, and opens a frightening path for the lyrical self, along which it crosses the borders of worlds. In the same place, the sea embraces celestial worlds, and at this point, the heart splits so that Man can come into life.
This Man is an unspoken herald of a better age, a superior being than the humanity that preceded him. From the wise fullness of the previous poem, "Hidden in the Light", comes this Man who has been hidden in the light until now.
The sky is
at last opening, the air is trembling,
On the
ground, shining starlight swings on the water of the sea.
The water
of the sea glistens, a star flashes in the sky,
On the
edge of the horizon, glitters on the border
This
point, where lightning cuts into seawater,
With its flashing
light, it reveals a starry arch.
Thus, it
rushes through the tapestry of the split sky,
In the water of the sea, fallen stars blaze.
The
starlight burns on the foam of the sea,
The
windstorm is howling, the hurricane tears it.
It
scatters starlight on the mirror of the water, on its waves,
It opens a
fearful path to heaven for your feet.
Your step
is rocked by a sea-coloured wave,
Your path
is illuminated by flashing lightning.
The blood
of the splitting skies is pouring down,
A flood of
starlight falls on the water of the sea.
Thus, you
cross world borders on lights,
Thus, the
sea can embrace celestial worlds.
At the
edge of the horizon, the sky meets so,
Embracing
soft water of the sea.
This is
the point where sea meets sky
Thus, the heart splits and comes into being: Man.
